Jakarta, 25 April 2025 – The German Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (ÌÇÐÄ Indonesia/EKONID) successfully hosted its Human Capital Club event, Understanding Gen Z in the Workplace, bringing together 23 participants comprised of Human Resource Professionals and CEOs from both EKONID members and non-members. The event was held at the EKONID office on Jl. H. Agus Salim No. 115, Jakarta, and was organized by Training Indonesia.
Through insightful sessions and interactive discussions, participants explored the key characteristics and expectations of Gen Z in the workplace. Topics included bridging generational gaps, understanding Gen Z’s drive for purpose, flexibility, career growth, and learning effective strategies for engaging and retaining Gen Z talent. The program also featured a fireside chat with Gen Z professionals, offering real-world insights into their aspirations and challenges.
Jan Roennfeld, Executive Director of EKONID, emphasized the importance of such gatherings, stating:
"The EKONID Human Capital Club is a vital channel for HR professionals, both from EKONID and beyond, to come together, exchange thoughts, and address real HR challenges. By understanding emerging workforce trends, we can better prepare our organizations for future success."
The event was further enriched by a keynote delivered by Jonas Danny, Associate Vice President of Human Resources at Populix, who highlighted the significance of understanding Gen Z based on recent research findings:
"Today, Gen Z makes up a substantial share of Indonesia’s workforce, with over 27% of the working population falling into this generation. Our study also shows that Gen Z employees prioritize flexibility, mental health support, and purpose-driven careers. Organizations that align with these expectations will not only attract but also retain top talent in an increasingly competitive market," said Jonas Danny, citing findings from the Populix 2024 report.
This event marks another milestone for EKONID’s commitment to supporting the professional development of its community, providing an inclusive platform for learning, discussion, and networking in the ever-evolving world of human resources.
